Sound Check
Test your speakers and microphone before joining a live room. Nothing here is recorded or broadcast.
Can you hear audio?
Press play and listen for the test audio.
Did you hear it?
Great — your audio output is working!
Try turning up your volume, checking that your speakers or headphones are connected, and that this site isn't muted in your system settings.
Can others hear you?
You only need to test this if you plan to speak or raise your hand. Listeners can skip this step.
Press the button and speak — the meter should respond to your voice.
Make sure your browser has permission to use your microphone. Check your browser settings and allow microphone access for this site.
Can you join a room?
Joining a room requires a direct WebRTC connection to Vox — this is how your browser receives and sends live audio in real time. It is uncommon, but some corporate firewalls block WebRTC. The live stream (an alternative way to listen) is an entirely separate one-way broadcast and does not use WebRTC.
Your network or firewall may be blocking WebRTC. You will not be able to join a room — you won't hear other participants or be able to speak. The live stream, if available, is an entirely separate one-way audio feed that does not use WebRTC and may still be accessible. Try disabling a VPN if you have one active, or ask your network administrator about WebRTC access.
